British reggae band UB40 will headline a series of special benefit concerts in Namibia this week.
The band will perform three shows over three nights in the country alongside some of South Africa’s most well known and popular music artists as part of the UB40 For Hope event to raise funds for Hope Village Namibia.
Hope Village Namibia is a non-profit, non-Governmental organisation to provide love, care and help to the under-privileged. According to the charity: "Hope Village was started by Marietjie de Klerk in 2004 as a result of a dream that formed her heart after working with Mother Theresa in Calcutta and seeking the multitude of orphaned children in Namibia.
“About 200,000 children are orphaned by HIV/AIDS and the number is growing daily. This is the biggest tragedy in the history of Namibia. But we refuse to be stunned into passivity by this silent killer.
“We believe that every Namibian child can have a home and every HIV/AIDS sufferer can live out her/his last days surrounded by love, care and dignity. We believe that Hope Village is a big step in that direction.”
The concerts will take place on February 24, 25 and 26 at the Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium in Olympia, Windhoek. Tickets range from N$150 – N$1000. For more information, click here.
